Selfnet at SNT 2025 in Košice
When students from all over Europe get together to talk about networks, technology, and of course to make new friends, it’s time again for the Student Networks Meeting (SNT). This year, the event took place from August 22–24, 2025 at the Cultural & Social Center Jedlíkova 7 in Košice, Slovakia – hosted by PCKlub. Joining us were many student networks and organizations, including Selfnet e.V., AG DSN, POD-O-LEE, Studierendenwerk Göttingen, Hans Dickmann Kolleg, Netz AK Tübingen, Ynet, CSN, Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe, and of course our hosts from PCKlub.
The event was supported by sponsors such as Flexoptix, the Technical University of Košice, SR14, AG DSN, and Selfnet e.V..
August 21 – Arrival
Our trip started on Thursday. Nine members left from Stuttgart, one from Berlin, all heading through Vienna on the way to Košice.
August 22 – Campus, Tech, and the First Challenges
Friday began with a tour of the University of Košice campus. Highlights included a new server room under construction and a VR lab that made us curious to try things out. Another favorite moment: riding the paternoster elevator – a first-time experience for many. In the afternoon, the focus turned to the big question: who would host SNT 2026? Together with HaDiKo, the first round of debates began – and Stuttgart’s bid kicked off, including the first sketches of a website. Networks also presented their current projects, sparking plenty of good discussions.
August 23 – City, Tech, and Party Vibes
Saturday started with a walking tour of Košice that gave us a closer look at the city’s history and culture.
After a strong goulash to refuel, we moved on to the technical talks. Topics included mini-server solutions and a presentation on Incus. In the evening, the whole event turned into a rave hosted by Radio 9 – loud music, lots of energy, and a perfect way to wrap up the day.
August 24 – Farewell and Return Trip
Sunday came too quickly. Before heading back via Vienna, we gathered everyone for a group photo – a fitting end to a packed weekend.
Looking Ahead: Stuttgart is Calling
With new contacts and plenty of ideas, we’re now looking forward to what comes next. If you’re interested in joining the association, meeting new people, or just getting a first impression of what we do, you’re more than welcome. Whether it’s helping organize events (like SNT 2026 in Stuttgart), working on technical projects, or simply joining our community – there are many ways to get involved.
